Application Engineer
The position requires Mechanical Engineering Technology, BSME degree, or a related field. Responsibilities include support of manufacturers' representatives' sales organizations as well as internal sales group by providing applications information; special price quotations; product design; custom equipment design; and manufacturing engineering interface. In addition, the responsibilities include assisting service department in resolving field service issues after shipment.
Duties:
- Day-to-day customer application support of all of RAE Corporation’s air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration products.
- Design, costing, and selecting custom air conditioning, heating, and refrigeration equipment.
- Selection, evaluation, and procurement of new materials as well as special materials for custom products.
- Develop technical information for software and catalog development.
- Assist in product development though technical / application input.
- Assist in cost reduction for both standard product as well as custom product.
- Design prototypes and testing procedures for new products.
- Analysis of test data to determine if designs meet required performance specifications.
- Technical analysis of competitive products.
- Developing as well as implementing solutions for improvements in quality, productivity, safety and costs.
- Responsible for issuing engineering change notices for deviations to ordered equipment.
- Provide sales and marketing with cost of new, redesigned, and current products.
- Evaluation and justification of capital equipment investments.
- Involvement in continuous improvement measures.
- Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 5+ years of HVAC and refrigeration theory and application knowledge
- Knowledge of commercial chillers and condensing units as well as other refrigeration equipment
- Computer skills including CAD, spreadsheets, and word processing. Experience with Excel, Word and AutoCad is preferred.
- Strong organizational, project management, interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) communication skills are required.
- Ability to coordinate many simultaneous activities, self-motivated and ability to work under pressure.
- Minimal travel required.
